Looking Presidential

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 | No Comments »

“Here is Candidate Barack Obama captured in a moment while watching the election returns coming in. I painted this in watercolor because I wanted to have a nice painting of him to hang on my wall. Later, of course, I discovered that many other people felt the same way. I have sold prints of this, and more are available.” By Mimi Boothby.

Giant Robot #57

Friday, December 12th, 2008 | 1 Comment »

From the cover to the newest edition of Giant Robot – a magazine about Asian American pop-culture. Eric Nakamura, the publisher and co-editor had this to say: “Why an Obama cover? Perhaps some of you are sick of seeing pop culture images of the President-Elect. I honestly was getting to that point, and that’s when I thought maybe I could learn more about it, and explain it to others who maybe felt the same way.”

Susan Gepford send in a great painting “The original piece is 9×12. It’s mixed media with watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel primer, and pastel. Obama has allowed me to believe again that politics can be less about name calling and more about mature open debate, and I’ve really got my fingers crossed for tomorrow.”

Another great one from Robt: “Buenas Dias- Thanks again so, so much for posting my “Man of Hope” artwork. I did another piece & I’m even more proud of this one. I would absolutely dig it if you wanted to post this one as well, either as an addendum to the previous work or a whole new entry, if you can swing it.” More inside…
