Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 | 2 Comments »

Here is an excellent acrylic example from Clayton Singleton: “…painted with layers of color covered with one “skin” color overlayed with an image of Obama with the Presidential oath written and scored throughout the image. I painted this after Barack Obama won the 44th Presidency. It was displayed in The Selden Gallery and published on January 20, 2009 in Portfolio Magazine.”

And from Clayton Singleton: “This acrylic painting on canvas was painted after seeing President Obama as Senator Obama on one of many Obama rallies in the battleground state of Virginia. I got to shake his hand and have my book signed at this particular event in Chesapeake, VA. cool guy.”

Obama Bowl (Glazed Hope)

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 | No Comments »

Shine Chisholm created this hope-themed glazed bowl: “Shepard Fairey’s work inspired me, like many other artists. I had recently begun experimenting by tracing with carbon paper to glaze a detailed image, and this project lent itself to that end very well. the piece is hand-thrown (by me) white stoneware fired to cone 10, glazed and fired to cone 6.” Nice work! More images inside.

This President is Junk

Jason Mecier shows us that a presidential  art piece can be more then the sum of its parts. He captures Obama’s image using only junk, or in his own words: “…barack obama using objects of modern america”. I especially like the spaceman in his neck. Jump inside for the full image.

The field painters sent in a new piece: “Wings of Hope” Jim Lennox, Shickshinny, PA Painted Steel and Wood Mechanical Obama Hope Sculpture. It combines the classic Shepard Fairey’s campaign poster with a hand-built mechanics to make the wings actually flap.
