Inspected, Dissected, Suspected

Monday, March 9th, 2009 | No Comments »

Here is an interesting sculpture from J. Kessler: “This welded steel and canvas sculpture features a magnifying lens–the image of Obama is “dissected” into a number of pieces. The sculpture was created during the campaign when Barack was inspected and suspected at every turn.”

We Can Change

Andrew Newman sends this in: “The day after Barack Obama was elected, I realized that if I stacked the word CHANGE on three lines, I could extract the word CAN by using a different color. I then added WE within the letter H. The letterforms were adjusted so that the three lines were equal visually.” Another version inside.

Jonathan Mak writes in: “… attached is my own artwork. Obviously, I was inspired by Shepard Fairey’s poster, and attempted to create something similar. Originally, I intended to use the graphic in a poster to promote a debate-related activity at my school. But then I experimented a bit with Obama’s quotes and ended up with this.”

Le Chevallier Print

Here is some work by Georges Le Chevallier: “January 2009 will always be remembered as the month that Barack Obama became President of the United States. Leaving political parties affiliations aside, all of us as Americans have to agree that this is a monumental moment in US history that we are all living in.”

First Family

As promised, here is the next painting by Andre. This one features the entire Obama clan.  Not to disrespect his work in any way (it is really good) – but I do find the giant, floating, dismembered disembodied head a tad disturbing.

Andre has a few more paintings to share: “Greetings, I was so inspired to create a series of paintings about Obama and his family. I want to say thanks for posting the first painting “WE BELIEVE”. Here are the other 2 paintings. I hope you could share these too.” The next one will be posted soon.
