Shepard Fairey

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 | 3 Comments »

Early on, Shepard Fairey created the now famous Hope poster. During the campaign, it inspired other artists. The style has been copied and imitated over and over. Now during the final countdown, Fairly releases a new poster – obviously inspired by the first… Hopefully this election day, it inspires you.

Spotted in Carlito_Brigante’ s photostream.  The whimsical “HOPE” featuring Obama’s stenciled head as the ‘O’ is juxtaposed with another statement. I can’t tell if the two were created by the same artist, but they are very interesting together.

Another great work spotted on Flickr. This time in ZachMcDonald’s photostream. The caption for this one starts: “Where are we all headed? Whom will be at he helm? Should I bring beer or band-aids? Both? Who knows…”

Hope and Butterflies

From b0’s photostream – this is a hope poster unlike any that we have seen. It is bright, clean and gets the positive message across without overdoing it. OK, maybe the logo/wings are a bit much… Unfortunately, we don’t have any information about the artist, or where to pick up a copy of your own. Update: The artist has been found. This was created by Amy Martin. More photos can be found on her blog.

Hand painted log’o’

This handsome, hand-painted logo was spotted in Катринка’s photostream. It turns out that this is just part of a huge mural on the side of the Obama headquarters in Huston, Texas. Jump inside to see the full thing. Personally, I dig close up details like this

The fine lines

Spotted this incredible close-up in a35mmlife’s photostream. This was shot during the creation of a poster that you have probably already seen. The hand is that of famous graffiti artist “The Mac.” Do you know recognize the poster yet? Step inside for a finished shot and a quote from the artist.
