Barack Obama Daily Painting #59 by Gayle Etcheverry

Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | No Comments »

Gayle is evidently on a missin to create a painting each and every day. An admirerable task. Now in the high 60′s, but #59 is the one that interests us: “This is my portrait of Barack Obama. I decided to paint it as one of my daily paintings. It took about 4 hours to create. It is an oil painting on 8″x10″ canvas.”

Obama Café vs. Obama Cybernet Café

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 | No Comments »

Josh C just sent this in: “When it launched early last month, the Obama Cafe, at 1226 Danforth Avenue, was the city’s first Obama-themed business. But it wouldn’t be alone for long: just a few doors down, at 1236 Danforth, an internet shop formerly known as the United Internet Cafe got a new red, white, and blue sign of its own, and a new name, just in time for the American president’s trip to Ottawa: Obama Cybernet Ltd. (or, if you go by their website, which advertises that ‘yes we can help!’ with your computer needs, the Obama Cybernet Cafe” Update: Looks like josh found this on the torontoist via BoingBoing.

Inspiration – illuminated by the beams of sunlight

Monday, March 16th, 2009 | No Comments »

From Trevor Chowning: “With an ancestral connection to President Lincoln, I have long felt a personal link to his inexhaustible passion for equality and humanity. With the election and inauguration of Barack Obama, I wanted to create a visual intertwining of America’s sometimes dark but glorious past to her shining, hopeful future. The hand of Lincoln isn’t so much guiding as it is assuring, illuminated by the beams of sunlight breaking through the dark skies as the storm clouds part.”
