Frank Korb – Open Canvas

Frank Korb shows off a piece of temporary art that he painted during an open canvas night: “The idea behind the “Open Canvas” night at the Art Bar is that an artist paints an image on Sunday, the painting hangs for a week and the next week it gets painted over. The Art Bar is locates at 722 East Burliegh St. in Milwaukee, WI and will be hanging until Sunday, October 26 when it will be painted over. Abby said he doesn’t look like this, but I hope the idea is there for you all.”

Lilly Glory writes in to tell us about the Obama Experiment: “One of the elements of the Obama campaign that has been so inspiring to me is the art that has come from this movement. In the moment, it is an often overlooked product of social change but After the Fact they are the images that define this moment in our history, which to me is a BIG deal. Anyway, I have kept a close eye on the Obama art movement and this new artist resonates with me. He put a lot of effort into his art and it is my intention that other people appreciate it as much as I do.”

Spotted in Carlito_Brigante’ s photostream.  The whimsical “HOPE” featuring Obama’s stenciled head as the ‘O’ is juxtaposed with another statement. I can’t tell if the two were created by the same artist, but they are very interesting together.
