Lichiban

Just received this message from an artist named Lichiban that we are happy to post: “I’m a Brooklyn-based visual artist from Hungary, and have been very much involved in supporting the Obama movement over here in BK through means that I could. I’m not a citizen so I can’t vote but I’ve been doing various fundraisers and Obama artwork to further the cause.”

More Manifest Hope – Julie Adler

Thousands of works were submitted to Manifest Hope. Over the past week, we have featured the finalists and winning entries. Unfortunatly, there was lots of great art at the show that didn’t get the same press. Recently, we were contacted by one of the artists who’s work was curated, but not in the contest:

Exhibited as part of the Manifest Hope show in Denver. By Julie Adler from Los Angeles, CA: Oil on canvas. Size 24″ x 24″.  “I am offering to sell the painting and have a substantial portion of the sale go to the Obama campaign.” Julie Adler is a multi-media artist, and in addition to painting, works in performance and music. Spotted on :”You are bidding on a very rare custom made portrait of Barack Obama as portrayed by contemporary artist and Obama supporter Shepard Fairey. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will go towards the Barack Obama / Joe Biden 2008 Presidential Campaign. Please read the entire description for details about the donation.  The portrait is made completely of Lego bricks. The cost of Lego bricks is not cheap. The reserve is set at $600. The cost of the bricks alone was about $130.”
